Walk based on the Colerne Heritage trail
The forecast was for rain in the morning but forecasts are always pessimistic, right? and the rainfall map didnt look so bad. And anyway there is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.
We parked at the nearly-defunct Fox and Hounds and set out in light rain which was sure to clear. Over streets, lanes, fields, holloways, bridges , sheltering for coffee amidst inadequate hazel trees. The sight of the undershot wheel at Ragmill cheered us up (being half-way round), but the rain was unrelenting. A long pull out of the ByBrook valley (100m) gave rise to views through the rain to Bath Finally a bedraggled gang of four, mostly soaked to the skin thanks to the wrong clothes, arrived back at the pub.
A very good meal at the Quarryman's Arms at Box restored our good humour . A memorable trek.
