Harkaway is the son of Le Carre and recently wrote the new Smiley book.
In a city that is strangely familiar but also strangely different -(possibly on Crete) at some point in the near future- Cal Sounder is a detective employed to work on extremely sensitive cases. He is called to the murder of a techie who he discovers is over 7 foot tall. He is clearly a Titan- one of a very privileged group who can afford the extremely expensive drug Titanium that grants those who take it rejuvenation and an extension to their lives of 90 years or more with the side effect of an increase in size every time it is administered. Cal’s investigations take him into a world of murder betrayal and vengeance and being a thriller I am reluctant to say much more to avoid spoilers. I think the characterisation and writing is good and highly entertaining.
