Over at , Ralph Lengler and Martin Eppler published this great Periodic Table of Visualizations. This displays around 100 diagram types, with examples .
Methods can be grouped using different principles or 'systems'. The Periodic table shows several classifications in the same graphic but there are other principles on which visualisations may be grouped, for example by the semantics of relationships.

This was orginally an application developed as a tool for students studying visualisations and matching visualization problems to methods. I borrowed the list of diagrams to create an alternative interface. Methods can be browsed using the relationships between systems, groups and methods. Methods are augmented with links to Google images and Wikipedia for further examples and information.
